Dwelling on your bad experiences for long periods of time will eventually have a negative effect on all areas of your life. You may get sick or your relationships start to have problems. Depression and a range of other mental illnesses may also develop.
I have learnt that you do not have to be the victim. Everything that happened to you in the past, can be mentally left behind. Your life now and your future, is in your control and what you want to make of it.
When you are happy, it is amazing just how good you start to feel and this helps you heal faster. There are times when things are not perfect but you can make the effort to steer yourself back to focusing on the positive. Remember there are people in this world who live in countries with war and famine. You are in a fortunate position if you have clean water to drink, a safe place to sleep and food in the cupboard.
Your life does not have to be perfect for you to be happier today.
